School Meals at Middle Barton
Our school meals are supplied by Dolce. Parents can order and pay for lunches using the SchoolGrid system. Our focus is the quality of meals for our children and promoting wholesome, homemade food. Wherever possible, produce will be sourced locally, and from suppliers who value quality.
Free School Meals
All children in Reception to Year 2 are entitled to receive Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM). However, some children are eligible to receive Free School Meals (FSM) across all school years. From September 2026 the government has expanded the eligibility criteria, meaning many more families will now qualify for free school meals.
Most notably, from September 2026 all children whose families receive Universal Credit will be entitled to free school meals, regardless of household income.
What is changing?
From September 2026, the Free School Meals program will be organised into three groups:
- Universal Infant Free School Meals: This is unchanged. All children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 will automatically continue to receive free school meals.
- Expanded Free School Meals (New): All children in Key Stage 2 and above (Year 3 and upwards) whose families receive Universal Credit are now eligible.
- Targeted Free School Meals: This is for families on Universal Credit with an earned income under £7,400.
If you think your child may be eligible for Expanded Free School Meals or Targeted Free School Meals please contact the office to make an application.
